The evolution of the Nigerian Army (NA) dates back to 1863 when
Lt Glover established the "Glover Hausas" a local force
made up of 18 indigenes from the Northern part of Nigeria. Lt Glover
as governor of Lagos used the force to mount expeditions in the
Lagos hinterland to protect British trade routes around Lagos. read

STATEMENT The Nigerian Army will be highly trained,
properly manned, motivated, equipped and well led to succesfully
fulfill its operational roles in the defence of the federal Republic
of nigeria and her national interest.
