The Nigerian Army exist under its command to train and fight all forms of aggression against Nigeria. The office is supreme in the command hierarchy of the NA exness. It keeps the Army moving as the final authority in decision-making.

The Department of Army Policy and Plans (DAPP) is the hub on which all the activities of the NA rest. The Department acts as the "nerve centre" of the NA and coordinates all AHQ principal staff branches. The Chief of Policy and Plans (COPP(A)) heads the Department exness thailand.

The Department of Army Operations (DAOPs) is responsible for the planning and directing of military operations by continuous assessment and evaluation of possible threat areas in the over all national defence exness th. The branch is headed by the Chief of Operations, Army (COPs (A)).

The Quartermaster Branch handles all logistics matters in the Nigerian Army. It controls the entire Nigerian Army Budget and also supervises all quartering services of the NA. It has the Chief of Army Logistics (COLOG) at the helm of affairs.

The Administrative or 'A' Branch deals with the welfare, discipline, employment and development of all human resources in the NA. The branch is divided into 2 major directorates; Directorate of Manpower (DMP (A)) and Directorate of Personnel Services (DPS). The Chief of Army Administration (COA (A)) is the executive head of this branch .

The Military Secretary (Army)- (MS (A)) is the link between all officers of the NA and the office of the COAS. It is responsible for commissioning, promotion, conversion, appointment, and inter - corps transfer as the COAS or the Army Council may direct. It is also responsible for the extension of service and retirement in accordance with Terms and Conditions of Service for NA officers. The MS (A) heads this branch .

The Department of Standards and Evaluation (DASE) is the newest branch in Army Headquarters created in 2003. The Department has the responsibility to monitor and evaluate the set standards of the NA.

The Army Headquarters Garrison (AHQ Gar) is responsible for the overall administration of the Army Headquarters and its departments. It is also responsible for the coordination of all AHQ activities such as sports, weapons meet and training programmes .
